The timbuktoo Africa Innovation Foundation supports African founders in starting, growing, and scaling their ventures through programming, capital access, and a supportive community. The Foundation actively promotes its enrolled startups and founders via regular spotlight features on LinkedIn and Instagram, aiming to enhance program visibility and celebrate entrepreneurial achievements within the African innovation ecosystem.

Job Purpose

This role supports the timbuktoo Africa Innovation Foundation by producing engaging written content for its social media channels. The volunteer will research and craft compelling founder spotlight posts, accurately representing each founder and their startup. The objective is to enhance the Foundation's online presence, showcase the success stories of African entrepreneurs, and build community engagement around the timbuktoo programme. This contribution is vital for highlighting the impact of the program and fostering a vibrant ecosystem for innovation in Africa.

Responsibilities

The online volunteer will research and write one short-form founder spotlight post per week for the Foundation's LinkedIn and Instagram channels. Each post will include a 120-160 word profile of the featured founder and their startup, based on publicly available information and provided notes. Additionally, the volunteer will create a concise 40-60 word caption and a carousel format suitable for both platforms. The assignment involves producing 12 LinkedIn posts and 12 corresponding Instagram captions/carousels over a 12-week period, contributing to a consistent weekly content schedule.

Work Experience

Required experience includes strong English writing skills, with a proven track record in producing short-form profiles, bios, or feature articles. Candidates should be adept at researching individuals and organizations using online resources and familiar with content formats for LinkedIn and Instagram. An interest in African entrepreneurship, startups, or innovation ecosystems is also desirable.
