Organizational Context

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. Its Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean (RO) plays a strategic role in integrating gender perspectives into statistical operations. The Data and Statistics Unit within the RO addresses information needs and provides support to Country Offices, contributing to the advancement of gender equality and sustainable development through effective data dissemination.

Job Purpose

This online volunteer assignment aims to support the design and layout of communication and knowledge products, including briefs, reports, and social media cards. The goal is to present the knowledge generated by the Data and Statistics Unit in an attractive and accessible manner, ensuring that findings, analyses, and recommendations are clearly and effectively communicated. This will facilitate their use by decision-makers, technical counterparts, and the public, contributing to sustainable development and gender equality. The volunteer will also assist in designing the graphic line for diffusion products, enhancing the visibility and impact of UN Women's work in the region.

Responsibilities

The online volunteer will support the design and layout of communication and knowledge products, ensuring alignment with institutional visual identity and graphic guidelines. Key activities include designing and formatting brief communication products (e.g., two-pagers, briefs) based on previously published knowledge products, adapting them to various formats and platforms for accessibility and readability. The volunteer will also design the graphic line for specific diffusion products defined by the area and participate in coordination and technical feedback meetings with the UN Women team. The assignment operates within the Panama time zone (GMT-5).

Work Experience

Required: Proven experience in editorial editing, design, and layout. Desirable: A minimum of two years of experience in design, editing, communication, or related areas.
