Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will support reporting, information management, and communications activities across WFP Kenya operations, working under the guidance of the Reporting and Information Management Team Lead and in close collaboration with programme, partnerships, and communications teams. This role is crucial for enhancing the country office's capacity in data collection, analysis, and knowledge management, ensuring alignment with national systems. The position contributes to tracking and measuring the impact of resilience investments, aiming to reduce humanitarian requirements and expand WFP's reach beyond direct implementation.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will provide comprehensive support in reporting, information management, and communication. This includes drafting, editing, and consolidating various reporting products such as situation updates, programme briefs, and donor materials, while ensuring alignment with WFP standards. The role involves organizing, managing, and disseminating programme information, maintaining information systems, and contributing to knowledge management by documenting lessons learned. Additionally, the volunteer will support content development for human-interest stories, field stories, and other communication materials, ensuring adherence to humanitarian communication principles. Coordination with programme, field, and technical teams, as well as UN agencies and the Resident Coordinator's Office, is essential for gathering information and aligning communication efforts. The volunteer will also support knowledge sharing initiatives within the team.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. Desirable experience includes communications, reporting, content development, information management, drafting donor visibility content, and familiarity with humanitarian or UN work environments. Experience in stakeholder coordination and knowledge management is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential, with familiarity in digital communication tools being a plus.
