Job Purpose
The Landscape Project Coordinator will support the implementation of the GEF-7 project "Sustainable management and restoration of degraded landscapes for achieving Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) in India." This role is crucial for achieving land degradation neutrality by creating carbon sinks through ecosystem-based restoration of agricultural, forest, and pastoral lands, and surface water bodies. The coordinator will assist in enabling institutional frameworks and policies for sustainable land management and up-scaling landscape-wide practices. The position contributes to enhanced national, state, and district-level frameworks, integrated landscape design and financing models, and improved capacity for LDN monitoring and reporting, ultimately supporting the restoration of productive landscapes and replication of best practices.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the District Collector (DC), the Landscape Project Coordinator will assist in coordinating and implementing project activities according to the project document and results framework. This includes supporting the Landscape Project Officer, coordinating with the multi-stakeholder Landscape Level Coordinating Committee, and developing landscape-specific annual work plans. The role involves providing administrative and operational support, managing information flow, preparing expenditure reports, and assisting with documents, guidelines, and financial matters. Responsibilities also include facilitating data collection, maintaining financial records, managing vendor contracts, and assisting in the preparation of legal documents for procurement. The coordinator will organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions, compile data from implementing partners, and facilitate knowledge sharing with other state departments for scaling up best practices. Additionally, the role involves providing inputs for progress reports, supporting resource mobilization proposals, and undertaking other assigned project-related tasks.
Work Experience
Requires 3 years of overall experience and 4 years of relevant experience. This includes field-level experience in implementing environmental projects at the block level with communities, proven expertise in operations and administration, and experience working with international organizations, NGOs/INGOs, or the UN on projects with central ministries. Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to work independently and in a multicultural team are essential.
