Job Purpose
The Community Mobilizer will support the Landscape Project Management Unit in implementing a GEF-7 project focused on sustainable management and restoration of degraded landscapes for Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) in India. This role is crucial for achieving project outcomes, which include enhancing enabling frameworks for sustainable land management, establishing integrated landscape design and financing models, and improving capacity for LDN monitoring and reporting. The Community Mobilizer will work under the supervision of the Landscape Project Officer, engaging communities to promote ecological restoration, sustainable land management practices, and conservation of natural resources.
Responsibilities
The Community Mobilizer will support daily project activities by working with communities and assisting the Landscape Project Officer in facilitating meetings and selecting champion villages. Key responsibilities include mobilizing and sensitizing communities for land restoration, engaging them through demonstrations of sustainable land management practices, and implementing project activities related to ecological restoration, livelihood enhancement, and biodiversity conservation at the village and cluster levels. The role involves spreading awareness about restoration and sustainable land management, sensitizing women and youth, and implementing gender-related activities. Additionally, the Community Mobilizer will facilitate access for project staff, prepare beneficiary lists for training, organize community events, and follow up on adopted learnings. They will also conduct surveys, document community perceptions and practices, support knowledge management, and coordinate with local government agencies and organizations to build program convergence.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required. However, at least 1 year of relevant field experience in rural areas, specifically in community development, is desirable.
