Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Sierra Leone coordinates UN agencies to enhance development activities at the country level. It supports the Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team in achieving shared goals, focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The RCO strengthens accountability and promotes integrated action to meet national needs. The UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) Secretariat in Sierra Leone is enhancing its communication to showcase results and impact, transforming technical reports into accessible knowledge products for various platforms.
Job Purpose
This role supports the UN PBF Secretariat in Sierra Leone by transforming extensive PBF documentation into accessible, compelling multimedia content. The objective is to synthesize evaluations, reports, and studies into clear, concise narratives that highlight the impact and lessons learned from PBF investments. These synthesized outputs will be used to create visual and audiovisual materials for digital platforms, advocacy, donor engagement, and public information. The contribution aims to improve storytelling on PBF's impact, specifically supporting SDG 16 by promoting awareness, inclusion, and transparency in peacebuilding processes in Sierra Leone.
Responsibilities
Review and synthesize a wide range of PBF documents, including evaluations and progress reports. Identify, extract, and analyze key insights, trends, and narratives from complex information. Transform analyzed content into clear, concise, and well-structured synthesis products and engaging narratives for various communication formats, such as progress briefs, impact stories, project briefs, and thematic summaries. Organize content into thematic areas like Youth, Peace and Security (YPS), Women, Peace and Security (WPS), conflict prevention, and natural resource management. Extract evidence of outcomes and transformative change, tailoring content for print, web, social media, and presentations. Develop scripts for video production and animation. Ensure all content is conflict-sensitive, inclusive, gender-responsive, and aligns with UN and PBF terminology and communication standards. Produce specific outputs including reports, newsletters, thematic briefs, results summaries, photo-books, change stories, visibility materials, infographics, fact sheets, and brochures.
Work Experience
Proven experience in research, analysis, and synthesis of complex information with strong attention to detail. Demonstrated experience in producing clear, concise, and structured content for print and digital platforms. Experience working with evaluation reports, policy documents, or research outputs. Familiarity with development, peacebuilding, or humanitarian contexts is desirable. Experience in drafting scripts and stories for videos is also advantageous.

Strong analytical and writing skills. Ability to identify key insights, trends, and narratives across large datasets. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage large volumes of information. Proficiency in knowledge management and content development. Strong storytelling techniques. Conflict-sensitive, inclusive, and gender-responsive communication. Familiarity with UN and PBF terminology and communication standards. Creativity and ability to use modern tools for content enhancement.
