UNV
Organizational Context
The timbuktoo Africa Innovation Foundation, an initiative of UNDP's Regional Bureau for Africa, supports African founders in starting, growing, and scaling their ventures. The Foundation is developing the Investor Readiness Index (IRI), a diagnostic tool to assess startup readiness. The IRI will be accessible via a web platform and used by the programme team for evaluation and support, forming a crucial part of the timbuktoo portfolio.
Job Purpose
This role supports the front-end development of the Investor Readiness Index (IRI) survey form for the timbuktoo Africa Innovation Foundation. The primary objective is to build a clean, functional, and mobile-responsive web form using HTML and CSS. This form will comprise 60 questions across seven thematic sections, supporting various input types. The successful development will enable founders to access the IRI via the Foundation's web platform and allow the programme team to effectively evaluate and support startups within the timbuktoo portfolio.
Responsibilities
The online volunteers will develop the front-end structure of a 60-question survey form using HTML5 and CSS3. This includes organizing questions into seven clearly defined sections as per the provided specification. The form must support multiple question types (multiple choice, Likert scale, short text input) and ensure seamless navigation between sections with a visible progress indicator. Crucially, the form must be mobile-responsive, rendering correctly on both desktop and mobile devices. The final output will be clean, well-commented HTML/CSS source code, ready for integration by the Foundation's development team, delivered within the agreed timeline.
Work Experience
Required experience includes demonstrated proficiency in building responsive web forms using HTML5 and CSS3. Candidates should possess working knowledge of form input types and accessibility best practices. Experience with mobile-responsive design techniques like CSS Flexbox or Grid is essential. While not mandatory, knowledge of JavaScript for section navigation and progress tracking is considered an asset.
Skills
Key skills include expertise in HTML5 and CSS3 for responsive web form development. A strong understanding of form input types and accessibility best practices is required. The ability to accurately follow specifications and implement mobile-responsive design using CSS Flexbox or Grid is crucial. Fluency in English is also a requirement for this role.
