Job Purpose
The Communication Officer (Digital Content) serves as the technical lead for creating, coordinating, and disseminating compelling digital content to enhance UNICEF South Sudan's visibility and influence, particularly in emergency contexts. This role is crucial for producing high-quality storytelling and multimedia content that effectively highlights the situation of women and children, demonstrates program impact, acknowledges donor contributions, and supports advocacy and fundraising efforts. The specialist will plan and deliver impactful content across digital platforms, ensuring timeliness, brand consistency, and alignment with communication and advocacy objectives, ultimately driving innovative online campaigns and strengthening stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
The Communication Officer will implement a digital content plan for all UNICEF South Sudan platforms, developing a monitoring framework for digital analytics and ensuring the content planner is updated weekly. Responsibilities include supporting online reputation management and reinforcing inclusive storytelling approaches. The role involves identifying and developing compelling program impact stories in collaboration with program teams, ensuring wide dissemination of digital content, and supporting the production of multimedia assets like infographics and videos. The officer will draft and edit website and social media content, manage the digital asset management system, and adapt stories for diverse stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes developing and implementing local digital campaigns, creating content for donor visibility and recognition, and advising UNICEF colleagues and partners on social media best practices and communication training.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional work experience in communication, journalism, broadcast, or digital media is required. International and national work experience is necessary. Familiarity with emergency situations and inclusive storytelling methodologies is an asset. Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, is essential. The candidate should be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, and meet tight deadlines.
