Translation of Founders Sessions to French live on the session
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates within the international development sector. As the Foundation expands its program delivery and strategic partnerships, including high-profile grant initiatives, government engagement, and regional convenings, there is an identified need for dedicated administrative and logistical support at the project management level. This role is crucial for facilitating the Foundation's growing operational demands.
Job Purpose
This role is designed to provide essential live translation support for the Foundation's weekly Founders Sessions. The volunteer will contribute to effective communication by translating English sessions into French in real-time during 12 virtual meetings. This support is critical as the Foundation scales its program delivery and strategic partnerships, requiring clear and accessible communication across different language groups. The assignment aims to ensure that French-speaking participants can fully engage with the content and discussions, thereby supporting the Foundation's broader objectives in international development and project management.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will provide live translation services from English to French during weekly one-hour Founders Sessions. This will involve supporting 12 virtual meetings and convenings conducted via Zoom. The primary output will be the real-time interpretation of discussions, ensuring that all participants can understand the proceedings. This role is part of a tag-team effort to ensure consistent translation coverage. The support is needed for sessions held weekly on Mondays at 1:30 PM Kigali time, contributing to the effective communication and engagement of all attendees.
Work Experience
While not strictly required, prior contract or work experience in an international organization, VC firm, NGO, startup ecosystem, or development program is desirable. Familiarity with Africa's innovation or startup ecosystem landscape is also preferred. Experience with project management tools like Trello, Asana, or Monday.com is a plus.
Skills
Required: Fluency in both English and French. Technical skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar). Comfort with virtual collaboration tools like Zoom, Teams, Slack, and Notion is essential.
