Organizational Context

Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN-related organization dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. As the leading agency in migration, IOM collaborates with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners, providing essential services and advice. The Staff Development & Learning unit manages a high volume of course publishing requests for its Learning Management System, facing increased demand and workload.

Job Purpose

This assignment seeks online volunteers to support the Staff Development & Learning (SDL) unit by conducting technical testing of online course modules before their publication on the IOM Learning Management System (LMS). The goal is to ensure all technical functionalities, including volume, hyperlinks, buttons, progress tracking, content navigation, activities, multimedia elements, and accessibility features like subtitles and transcripts, are fully operational. This support is crucial as the SDL team needs to prioritize other tasks, and dedicated personnel for course testing are currently unavailable, allowing the team to manage the increased workload effectively.

Responsibilities

Online Volunteers will conduct quality screening and technical testing of approximately 20 online course modules per month for the IOM Learning Management System (LMS). This involves ensuring compliance with SDL's technical guidelines and quality assurance checklist. Volunteers are expected to deliver detailed reports after each testing round and coordinate findings with the SDL focal point. Communication will primarily occur via email, chat, and MS Teams. Weekly Friday meetings will be held to discuss progress, issues, and project-related matters. Participation in bi-weekly unit or division-wide meetings may also be required to provide updates to a larger group.

Work Experience

At least one year of professional experience is required. Experience in administering learning management systems or learning integrated solutions and technologies is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Skills

Proficiency in English, Arabic, French, and Spanish (fluent level) is required. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Experience with learning management systems is desirable.
