Collect Resources for YELL’s Environmental Education Hub Database
Organizational Context
UNDP Malaysia is dedicated to fostering sustainable development pathways. The agency collaborates with various ministries, leading key pillars of the UN Sustainable Cooperation Framework. UNDP leverages global expertise and local knowledge to address challenges in poverty reduction, governance, crisis prevention, environment, and women's empowerment. The Youth Environment Living Labs (YELL) programme, a joint initiative with UNICEF and other partners, aims to enhance environmental literacy across Malaysia.
Job Purpose
This role supports the Youth Environment Living Labs (YELL) programme by populating its Environmental Education Hub (yell.my) with crucial resources. The hub serves as a central reference for educators, students, and community members seeking accessible environmental education materials. The assignment directly addresses the current lack of content, enabling teachers and youth to access credible information on climate change, biodiversity, waste management, and water conservation. By improving environmental literacy and access to learning tools, this role contributes to SDGs 4, 13, 14, and 15.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will support the population of the YELL Environmental Education Hub database by independently finding and submitting 40-50 unique environmental education resources. This involves adhering to provided selection criteria regarding language, format, interactivity, and cultural relevance to Malaysia. Resources must be categorized for different user groups: kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, and adults. Key tasks include using a Google Sheets template to log resource details (title, description, age group, format, URL, language), searching for credible online sources, evaluating resources against quality criteria (bias, timeliness, link functionality), and submitting the completed dataset by the assignment's end.
