Job Purpose
This role supports the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF) 2026 campaign by amplifying FAO's social media content. The volunteer will leverage personal social media platforms to increase the reach of messages highlighting women farmers' roles, challenges, and contributions across the Central Asia subregion. The aim is to raise awareness and support FAO's initiatives in achieving food security and empowering women in agriculture, contributing to the broader goal of a #ZeroHunger world.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Regional Gender Officer and coordination of the Young Professional Officer (Communication), the Online Volunteer will amplify FAO's social media content related to the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF) 2026. This includes sharing posts on personal platforms (X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok) that highlight women farmers' roles and contributions across the Central Asia subregion. The volunteer must ensure proper attribution to FAO, respect copyright and branding, and communicate responsibly. Regular communication with FAO focal points regarding content, scheduling, and compliance is required. Monitoring engagement metrics and submitting bi-weekly reports on shared content and its impact are also key duties.
Work Experience
While no formal work experience is strictly required, a demonstrated interest in gender equality, women's empowerment, agrifood systems, or sustainable development is essential. Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly X/Twitter and LinkedIn, is necessary. Experience with Instagram or TikTok is considered an asset.
Skills
Key skills include strong familiarity with social media platforms (X/Twitter, LinkedIn essential; Instagram, TikTok desirable), clear and responsible communication in digital spaces, sensitivity to diverse cultural contexts, basic understanding of social media engagement metrics and digital advocacy, strong responsibility, attention to detail, and adherence to branding guidelines.
