Job Purpose
The Programme Associate in Sudan will support the UNFPA Country Office's work on population and development, and data portfolios. This role is crucial for implementing country office work plans with national partners like the National Population Council and Central Bureau of Statistics, focusing on generating evidence and incorporating demographic dynamics into development planning. The Associate will also assist in strengthening population data systems, providing evidence-based policy advice, and managing administrative and financial aspects of interventions. The position requires a client-oriented, results-focused approach to ensure the effective development and implementation of UNFPA's programs and support to implementing partners.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate will provide operational and programmatic support to the Population and Development (PD) team, facilitating information exchange with Implementing Partners (IPs). Responsibilities include contributing to project preparation, implementation, and monitoring, and reviewing IP financial documents to ensure compliance with UNFPA policies. The role involves processing advance requests, managing payment follow-ups, and tracking project expenditures using analytical tools. The Associate will maintain program and office filing systems, compile data for documents and presentations, and support the creation of projects in Quantum. Additionally, the position entails preparing documentation for consultant recruitment, drafting amendments to project agreements, handling administrative tasks like requisitions and minor procurements, and organizing events. The role also includes conducting spot-checks on IP activities, assisting with program reports, and providing day-to-day administrative and logistical support.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in population and data program management, economics, climate change, administration, finance, or office management. Proficiency in office software, web-based management, and ERP financial systems is necessary. Experience in statistical analysis is an asset, and previous UN experience is considered an advantage. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
