Humanitarian Associate
Organizational Context
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is the UN's sexual and reproductive health agency, dedicated to upholding the rights and choices of women, girls, and young people globally. In Jordan, UNFPA operates within a complex humanitarian context, collaborating with UN agencies, government, and partners to ensure access to vital Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services. This includes maternal health, family planning, and addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Job Purpose
The Humanitarian Associate will support UNFPA Jordan's humanitarian response, focusing on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in a challenging environment. Working under the supervision of the International Programme Coordinator and in collaboration with the Health Policy Specialist, the associate will contribute to ensuring access to life-saving SRHR services, including maternal health and family planning, and integrated GBV services. The role involves field-level monitoring, partner coordination, data collection, reporting, and supporting evidence-based programming to enhance SRHR outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
The Humanitarian Associate will provide SRHR technical support and programme implementation, contributing to interventions in humanitarian settings, including integrated SRHR and GBV responses. This involves supporting the integration of services like family planning and maternal health, and monitoring their availability, accessibility, and quality. The role includes assisting implementing partners, tracking SRHR commodities, promoting gender and inclusion, and engaging with communities. Responsibilities also encompass data collection, compilation, and reporting on SRHR activities, documenting lessons learned, and strengthening monitoring tools. Furthermore, the associate will support coordination with SRHR stakeholders, health actors, and humanitarian mechanisms, contributing to discussions and aligning activities with response plans. Advocacy and communication efforts, including developing materials and documenting field experiences, are also part of the role.
Work Experience
While no specific prior experience is required, demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to two years) in health programming (especially SRHR), humanitarian assistance, migration contexts, gender equality, or programme support functions (monitoring, reporting, coordination) is highly desirable. Experience as a volunteer or in diverse cultural settings is also valued.
