Job Purpose
This UN Volunteer assignment aims to strengthen the Syrian National Women-Led Organizations (WLO) Platform's institutional capacity, coordination, visibility, partnerships, and evidence generation. The role ensures that the rights, needs, and priorities of Syrian women and girls are effectively represented in national and international processes. By supporting the platform, the volunteer contributes to amplifying the voices and collective advocacy of women-led civil society organizations across Syria, fostering localization efforts, gender-responsive humanitarian action, peacebuilding, and accountability for crisis-affected women and girls.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate will provide day-to-day secretariat and coordination support to the WLO Platform, including managing membership, organizing meetings, and documenting minutes. Responsibilities include developing and implementing communication and social media content to increase the platform's visibility and disseminate key messages, ensuring communications are gender-responsive and conflict-sensitive. The role involves supporting the collection, compilation, and analysis of gender-sensitive data from WLO members for reports and advocacy products. Additionally, the associate will support initiatives strengthening the leadership and capacity of women-led organizations, contribute to localization efforts, and map funding opportunities. Strategic partnerships with national and international stakeholders will be supported, including engagement in policy dialogues and advocacy efforts to ensure women-led organizations' meaningful participation.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of progressive experience is required, specifically working with civil society and advocating for gender equality and mainstreaming. Experience in coordination, programme support, policy analysis, or strategic planning is desirable. Proven experience building partnerships with Syrian civil society organizations is essential, along with proficiency in office software and social media platforms.
