Organizational Context

The UN Security Management System (UNSMS) aims to enable UN organizations, including UNDP, to operate within acceptable security risk levels through a structured risk management process.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to support the ongoing security risk management process within the UNDP, facilitating the successful delivery of programmes in the region. The Online Volunteer will contribute by producing comprehensive daily reports that monitor geopolitical, security, and safety developments. These reports will be compiled from open-media sources, providing crucial information to assess and manage risks. The role is online, and the selected candidate is expected to commence duties as soon as possible after selection.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will support the UNDP Regional Security Advisor's Office in Panama by monitoring open-media sources in the Caribbean and producing daily reports on geopolitical, security, and safety news in English. Reports must be submitted by 12 PM GMT-5, Monday to Friday, covering significant regional events. The volunteer will also participate in weekly feedback sessions with the supervisor to discuss progress and receive guidance. Responsibilities include utilizing local open-media sources, ensuring information accuracy and credibility, and synthesizing findings into concise reports. Familiarity with the Caribbean's geopolitical landscape and current events is essential.
Work Experience
While no specific years of experience are mandated, candidates are expected to possess strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information from various sources into concise reports. Familiarity with the geopolitical landscape, culture, and current events of the Caribbean is desirable. Proficiency in English is required, and French is considered an advantage.
