The UN Security Management System (UNSMS) aims to enable organizational activities, including UNDP's, within acceptable security risk levels. This role supports the security risk management process to ensure UNDP program delivery.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to support the ongoing security risk management process, thereby enabling the effective delivery of UNDP programmes in the region. The Online Volunteer will contribute by producing comprehensive daily reports that detail geopolitical, security, and safety developments sourced from open-media outlets. These reports are crucial for assessing and managing security risks. The role is online, task-based, and requires the volunteer to start as soon as possible after selection, contributing to the UN's mission of maintaining security and facilitating development.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will support the UNDP Regional Security Advisor's Office in Panama by monitoring open-media sources in South America and producing daily reports in English on geopolitical, security, and safety news. Reports must be submitted by 12 PM GMT-5, Monday to Friday, covering significant regional events. The volunteer will utilize local open-media sources, ensuring information accuracy and credibility. Additionally, participation in weekly online feedback sessions with the supervisor is required to discuss progress and receive guidance. The role demands strong research and analytical skills to synthesize information from various sources into concise, logical reports, demonstrating a keen interest in security and international affairs.
Work Experience
While specific years of experience are not detailed, the role requires proficiency in English and Spanish (Portuguese is an advantage).
