In Papua New Guinea, UNICEF is developing standardized scorecards for districts and provinces to visually represent data on child and youth indicators. These scorecards serve as crucial tools for policy, advocacy, and monitoring progress.

Job Purpose

This role supports UNICEF Papua New Guinea in creating standardized, high-quality scorecards for districts and provinces, focusing on youth and children's indicators. The assignment's purpose is to translate complex data into a clear, consistent, and visually compelling format. The volunteer will contribute to developing these scorecards into effective policy and advocacy tools, particularly for the Special Parliamentary Committee for Children and Youth Well-Being. The ultimate goal is to enhance monitoring of key indicators, promote government accountability for service delivery, and identify implementation challenges for children and youth in Papua New Guinea.

Responsibilities

The Graphic Design & Layout Support volunteer will design and produce standardized 2-page scorecard templates for province- and district-level reporting. This involves developing a consistent visual system, including layout structure, typography, visual hierarchy, and a colour palette aligned with UNICEF branding. The role includes creating placeholders for demographic information, sector performance indicators, key messages, and visual elements like maps and graphics. The volunteer will deliver editable master templates (InDesign/Canva) and apply them to 2-3 pilot scorecards for testing and refinement based on feedback. Final deliverables include finalized province- and district-level templates in PDF and editable source file formats. The volunteer will not be involved in data analysis or interpretation.

Work Experience

Required experience includes strong graphic design and visual communication skills, with the ability to translate structured or technical information into clear, engaging, and visually accessible formats. Candidates should be comfortable working independently remotely and managing deliverables within agreed timelines. Desired experience includes proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and/or Canva (advanced level), strong layout design and typography, basic data visualization, and Microsoft Office applications.
