Job Purpose
This role supports the WFP Zimbabwe Country Office's External Relations Unit by contributing to strategic and effective communication. The volunteer will focus on creating high-quality digital content, documenting field activities, and developing results-based stories to enhance WFP's visibility and demonstrate program impact. Key contributions include managing social media platforms, supporting media engagement, and translating program achievements into engaging communications. The aim is to reinforce WFP's credibility, transparency, and thought leadership, aligning with its mandate and strategic priorities in Zimbabwe.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support content creation and social media management by developing compelling content for WFP Zimbabwe's platforms, including posts, captions, and infographics, and capturing field-based stories, photos, and videos. They will maintain a content calendar and contribute to thematic campaigns. In media and communications support, the volunteer will draft human interest stories, success stories, factsheets, and web articles, assist in editing communication materials, and help organize media field visits and events, ensuring brand compliance. Responsibilities also include monitoring social media engagement, compiling analytics reports, and identifying opportunities to increase reach. Furthermore, the volunteer will organize the communications content library and ensure adherence to consent and protection protocols.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required, specifically in Media and Influencer Relationship Management, understanding socio-political contexts, and social media and communication expertise. Experience in producing engaging digital content, familiarity with social media analytics, and basic graphic design/video tools are essential. Photography/videography experience is considered an asset, as is an understanding of humanitarian and development contexts.

Key competencies include strong writing and editing skills in English, creativity in producing engaging digital content, and technological awareness regarding social media analytics and design tools.
