This task supports the Central Asian alliance to end gender-based violence by strengthening regional gender equality and inclusive development. Improving the CSO and gender expert database enhances UN Women's ability to identify stakeholders, build partnerships, and support evidence-based programming across Central Asia.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to update and enhance the database of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and gender experts in Central Asia. This contribution is vital for strengthening gender equality and inclusive development efforts in the region, particularly within the framework of the Central Asian alliance to end gender-based violence. By ensuring the database is accurate and comprehensive, the volunteer will directly support UN Women's capacity to identify key stakeholders, forge strategic partnerships, and implement evidence-based programming. The updated database will serve as a critical resource for stakeholder mapping, outreach, project design, and coordinating essential activities like consultations, capacity-building, and advocacy campaigns.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will be responsible for collecting and verifying updated information on Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and gender experts through online research and publicly available sources, ensuring data accuracy and reliability. This includes reviewing the existing database, updating entries with current contact details, areas of expertise, and activities, and adding new relevant entities. Data standardization will be crucial to ensure consistency in formatting and categorization. The volunteer will also conduct gap analyses to identify missing information or underrepresented areas and suggest sources to fill these gaps. Quality assurance involves cross-checking for duplicates and outdated information. Finally, the volunteer will document sources used and provide a summary report of updates, findings, and recommendations, along with an updated database and a list of recommended contacts.
Work Experience
The role requires strong research and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail and data accuracy. Experience working with spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets) is essential. Familiarity with gender issues, civil society, or development work is considered an asset. Good written and spoken communication skills are also necessary.
