Climate Programme Officer
Organizational Context

Job Purpose
The UNV Environment/Climate Programme Officer will be based in UNDP Tunisia’s Climate, Environment, Energy and Disaster Risk Reduction Cluster (CERC). This role is crucial for supporting the design and development of a potential GCF-funded project, stemming from ongoing discussions between JICA and UNDP Tunisia regarding green transport or green cities. The officer will contribute to the overall management and quality assurance of UNDP’s environment and climate resilience programme, ensuring synergy and knowledge sharing among project teams. Additionally, the role involves contributing to UNDP's thought leadership in the environment and climate sector through research, analysis, and drafting of knowledge products, while also assisting with digitalization and AI initiatives to enhance the Cluster's performance.
Responsibilities
The UNV Environment/Climate Programme Officer will support UNDP’s Environment, Energy, and Disaster Risk Reduction programme by analyzing and mapping programming opportunities, ensuring strategic synergy with partner initiatives. The role involves supporting evidence- and data-driven programme design for SDG acceleration and NDC implementation, conducting research on priority thematic areas, and synthesizing best practices. Quality assurance of the programme, including project reports and results-based reporting, will be a key responsibility. Furthermore, the officer will support the JICA-UNDP collaboration for potential GCF funding, acting as a liaison, assisting in concept note elaboration, and facilitating consultations with Tunisian counterparts and the GCF.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required in programme/project management, partnerships, resource mobilization, communications, or public affairs, preferably in the environment or climate change sector. Experience in developing countries is essential, with experience in the MENA region being an asset. Proficiency in office productivity software is required, while digital/AI literacy and experience analyzing/presenting data are considered assets.
