Job Purpose
This assignment supports UNICEF Colombia's communication unit by producing audiovisual content (photography and video) to enhance the visibility and positioning of UNICEF's work. The UNV will be responsible for planning, producing, and delivering high-quality audiovisual and photographic products. These materials will document humanitarian actions, services, and community impacts in emergency contexts, particularly in four defined intervention territories. The role ensures alignment with UNICEF's institutional guidelines, humanitarian principles, ethical considerations, and donor visibility requirements, contributing to effective communication and accountability.
Responsibilities
The UNV will plan and execute communication activities in prioritized territories, capturing photos and videos of humanitarian actions, services, and relevant testimonies in coordination with field teams. Responsibilities include producing diverse communication products, with an emphasis on audiovisual formats like short videos, photo banks, and web stories for external communication and institutional positioning. The role requires ensuring content accurately reflects UNICEF's impact in emergencies, highlighting child protection and essential services for affected communities. Cross-cutting approaches, including child rights, gender, diversity, and 'do no harm' principles, must be applied, especially in sensitive contexts. The UNV will also ensure donor visibility requirements are met, organize and deliver final files and raw material systematically, support the generation of audiovisual and narrative inputs for donor reports, and coordinate continuously with the UNICEF communications team.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required, including content production for humanitarian organizations and clear, empathetic writing for diverse audiences. Experience in various journalistic genres and social media content is necessary. Previous experience within the UN system and knowledge of UNICEF Colombia's work are desirable, as are graphic design and audiovisual editing skills.
Skills
Key competencies include adaptability, flexibility, creativity, and strong planning and organizational skills. Excellent communication abilities are essential. Proficiency in Spanish is required, with desirable working knowledge of English.
