Gender and Human Rights Analyst

In Angola, a country facing rapid population growth and high rates of unmet need for family planning and adolescent pregnancies, UNFPA's 9th Country Program Document focuses on improving access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services for adolescents, youth, women, and vulnerable populations, emphasizing gender equality and innovation.
Job Purpose
This role supports UNFPA Angola's 9th Country Program Document, aiming to accelerate progress towards transformative results in sexual and reproductive health and rights. The Gender and Human Rights Analyst will contribute to planning, implementing, and monitoring interventions focused on improving adolescents' and youth's access to quality services, including adolescent-friendly health services, comprehensive sexuality education, and menstrual hygiene management. The position will also support the development of innovative partnerships, resource mobilization, and sustainable financing mechanisms for SRHR programs, addressing critical demographic challenges and gender inequalities in Angola.
Responsibilities
The Gender and Human Rights Analyst will contribute to developing workplans and implementing programmatic actions for adolescent and youth SRH in collaboration with partners. This includes supporting project missions, workshops, and dialogues, and preparing related documentation. The role involves supporting activities for Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and women's economic empowerment, participating in research initiatives, and identifying vulnerable populations for targeted SRHR interventions. Additionally, the analyst will assist in preparing training workshops for adolescent-friendly health services and peer educators, and documenting strategies for capacity development. The position also entails collecting and analyzing data for advocacy and reporting, documenting best practices, and contributing to cost-effectiveness analyses. Furthermore, the role supports mapping partnership opportunities, developing communication materials, assisting with donor reporting and funding proposals, and identifying innovative partnerships, particularly with the private sector. Capacity building support for Youth-Led Organizations is also a key responsibility.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of experience in adolescent and youth-related areas, international development, and project management, including planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. Experience working in least developed or middle-income countries is a strong asset. Basic knowledge of gender mainstreaming, a gender-transformative approach, and human-rights-based management is required. Strong analytical writing and communication skills in English are essential, with a willingness to learn Portuguese. Demonstrated experience in networking and partnership building is highly desirable.
