The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) leads global efforts to protect refugees and resolve their problems. In Bangladesh, UNHCR operates amidst a complex environment, hosting over 1.2 million Rohingya refugees, referred to as "Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals." The government's policy prioritizes return, impacting humanitarian operations by discouraging long-term infrastructure and development. Amidst funding cuts, UNHCR leads the Rohingya Coordination Platform (RCP) in Cox's Bazar, streamlining coordination and partner engagement through the Joint Response Plan (JRP) framework.
Job Purpose
The Associate Inter-Agency Coordination Officer will provide essential day-to-day support to the Rohingya Coordination Platform (RCP) Secretariat in Cox's Bazar. This role is crucial for ensuring effective information flow, systematic follow-up on actions, and accurate documentation across various sectors and partners involved in the Rohingya response. The incumbent will facilitate inter-sector coordination processes, contribute to planning and reporting, and help maintain continuity and coherence within the secretariat, particularly in relation to the Joint Response Plan (JRP). This position supports the overall objective of a streamlined and effective humanitarian response during a period of transition and resource constraints.
Responsibilities
The Associate Inter-Agency Coordination Officer will support daily engagement with Sector Coordinators and Co-Coordinators, managing written and verbal communication and following up on agreed actions for planning, reporting, and coordination. The role involves maintaining regular contact with UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to facilitate information exchange. Responsibilities include assisting in organizing inter-sector and ad hoc coordination meetings, preparing agendas, and handling logistics. The officer will contribute to drafting and revising coordination documents, guidance notes, and presentations. A key duty is supporting the preparation and drafting of the Joint Response Plan (JRP), consolidating sector inputs, and assisting with reporting processes linked to JRP implementation and funding. The role also includes preparing meeting minutes, status updates, and internal reports, liaising with Information Management focal points for data validation, and maintaining organized records. Additionally, the officer will support donor liaison and reporting for Japan-funded activities and contribute to the continuity and institutional memory of the RCP Secretariat.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required, specifically in project coordination and management. Previous experience with the United Nations system or similar organizations is considered an asset. Demonstrated experience supporting multi-stakeholder coordination processes is essential.
