Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will support initiatives to strengthen the capacity and productivity of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Côte d’Ivoire. This involves enhancing project pipelines, coordinating with development partners like JICA, and providing field-level technical assistance and capacity building. The role aims to help SMEs adopt best practices, improve access to finance and investment opportunities, and align their development with national climate targets. The volunteer will contribute to project development and financing, fostering inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will focus on SME capacity strengthening and project pipeline support (60%), assisting in developing and monitoring project pipelines, conducting research on SME performance and finance access, and building financing mechanisms for local entities. This includes aligning investment opportunities with national climate goals and producing analyses for decision-making. Stakeholder coordination and field-level support (30%) involve facilitating collaboration with government institutions, financial partners, and JICA, supporting SME initiative implementation through training and workshops, and preparing reports. Knowledge management and communication (10%) include capturing lessons learned, supporting investment management processes, and developing communication materials on private sector engagement.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of professional experience is required in entrepreneurship, the private sector, or Public-Private Partnerships. Experience with the UN or other international development organizations is an asset. Proficiency in MS Office, strong analytical and reporting skills, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team are essential. Affinity for private sector development and PPPs is desirable.
