Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's global development network supporting countries in achieving sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals. UNDP Zambia, operational since 1964, partners with the government and other stakeholders to foster inclusive growth, climate resilience, and systems transformation. This assignment is within the Zambia Systems Finance Facility, a blended finance platform designed to mobilize private investment for the green transition, focusing initially on renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.
Job Purpose
This United Nations Volunteer (UNV) assignment supports the operationalization of the Zambia Systems Finance Facility, hosted by UNDP Zambia. The role is crucial for advancing Zambia's Green Growth Strategy by facilitating a just, low-carbon economic transition. The Project Coordinator will strengthen project pipelines, enhance investment readiness, and mobilize private capital for climate- and nature-positive investments. This involves coordinating day-to-day activities, engaging key stakeholders including government, financial institutions, and private sector actors, and ensuring the Facility effectively addresses critical financing gaps to translate strategic priorities into investable opportunities.
Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator - Systems Finance Facility will manage the day-to-day implementation of the Facility's activities, aligning with approved workplans and UNDP Zambia's Green Growth Strategy. Key duties include identifying and coordinating a pipeline of green and climate-resilient investment opportunities in collaboration with government, financial institutions, and private sector actors. The role involves facilitating engagement and coordination among diverse stakeholders, organizing meetings and consultations, and ensuring timely follow-up. Responsibilities also include contributing to the preparation of briefs, presentations, and progress reports, tracking implementation milestones, and documenting lessons learned. The coordinator will support the overall programme delivery and operational priorities of UNDP Zambia.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience is required, with a focus on impact investment, sustainable finance, project coordination, programme management, and stakeholder engagement. Experience working with government institutions, financial institutions, or the private sector is highly desirable. Proven ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder initiatives and strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential. Familiarity with UN or international development organizations and proficiency in MS Office applications are also important.

Technical expertise in development programmes, economics, finance, energy, and environment is required.
