Job Purpose
This assignment focuses on internal communications for personnel within UNEP and associated organizations. The incumbent will serve as an expert translator from English to French and a digital media specialist. Working under the Head of Social Media at the UNEP Nairobi office, the role is crucial for ensuring effective communication with French-speaking staff. The position contributes to raising awareness and maintaining the profile of UNEP's environmental initiatives through targeted digital content and engagement strategies.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will translate and post relevant content, including stories, press releases, and publications, from English to French on the UNEP website in a timely manner. Responsibilities include proofreading French website content, coordinating reviews of existing French sections, and updating content. For social media, the incumbent will execute strategy and plans for French-speaking audiences, translate social media content (including videos and graphics), maintain French-language channels, and engage with audiences. This involves promoting UNEP's work, analyzing statistics to optimize content strategy, and supporting the Executive Director's requests related to French-speaking audiences. The role also requires staying updated on digital platform advancements and participating in division activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. This includes excellent knowledge of social media for strategic communication, the ability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, strong organizational and planning skills for multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and the capacity to generate innovative solutions. Outstanding French writing and editing skills, along with full command of English, are essential.
