Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will support UNODC's evidence-based prevention and treatment area in Bogotá. This role involves assisting with research activities, drafting technical documents on drug use, conducting context analysis, and managing data collection. The volunteer will contribute to UNODC's efforts in implementing prevention programs, working with at-risk populations, and advancing knowledge management in the field of psychoactive substance use, aligning with the focus on public health and human rights.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will support research and knowledge management strategies related to psychoactive substance use. Key tasks include assisting in the design and execution of research activities, drafting, reviewing, and editing technical documents, briefs, and reports on drug use prevention and treatment. The volunteer will also conduct context analysis to monitor trends and risks in drug consumption at local and national levels, support data collection and verification processes for informed decision-making, and assist in the implementation of prevention programs for at-risk populations.
Work Experience
Requires 1 month of experience, with 6 months of relevant experience being desirable. Experience in qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research, including tool design and fieldwork, is needed. Experience or knowledge in public health, substance use prevention, or working with vulnerable populations is highly desirable.
Skills
Strong skills in data processing and analysis, context analysis regarding social or health trends, and excellent drafting/editing for technical documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and database management is required. Competencies include commitment to continuous learning, communication, creativity, ethics, integrity, knowledge sharing, technological awareness, and teamwork. Expertise areas include economics, finance, education, and social work.
