Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) supports countries in eradicating poverty and reducing inequality. UNDP Brazil aligns its services with the needs of a dynamic and diverse country, implementing projects in partnership with government, financial institutions, the private sector, and civil society. Project BRA/23/009 specifically aims to strengthen innovation and improve operations within the Federal Justice System in Ceará, adopting a people-centered justice approach. This involves enhancing user experience, expanding the use of disruptive technologies, and improving knowledge management.
Job Purpose
This role supports Project BRA/23/009 by developing and prototyping innovative technological solutions to enhance the effectiveness of electronic case processing within the Federal Justice System of Ceará (JFCE). The UN Volunteer will focus on integrating Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern tools into the Electronic Judicial Process System (PJe). Key contributions include developing AI-powered case query tools, implementing document processing pipelines, integrating LLMs, and mapping workflows to identify improvements. The goal is to boost intelligent automation, information extraction, and overall judicial efficiency, contributing to better access to justice.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will provide specialized technical support for management, monitoring, and technological innovation related to the PJe system and Axis 3 initiatives. Key duties include developing and prototyping Generative AI solutions for PJe, such as intelligent case query tools and automated report generation. The role involves implementing and maintaining processing pipelines for legal documents, including OCR and RAG. Integration of LLMs and AI APIs into PJe routines using modern protocols is crucial. The volunteer will map PJe workflows, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements through data analysis and automation. Additionally, they will assist in structuring operational workflows, preparing technical reports, supporting coordination teams in meetings and testing, and creating training materials for JFCE staff.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant practical experience in systems development and/or technological innovation is required. Essential experience includes working with the PJe system, system development using Python for automation and data processing, and relational databases. Desirable experience encompasses backend frameworks, Generative AI solutions, frontend development, DevOps, workflow automation tools, integration protocols, and version control systems like Git.
