Organizational Context

Job Purpose
This professional volunteer opportunity, supported by France, aims to advance the protection and promotion of human rights in Tunisia. The UN Volunteer will support OHCHR's efforts through monitoring, reporting, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. The role will strengthen ongoing programs by assisting national institutions, civil society, and UN counterparts in implementing human rights commitments. Key activities include providing technical cooperation, capacity building for engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, disseminating reports, and conducting training for civil society actors.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will research and collect human rights information from various sources, providing updated analyses. Responsibilities include drafting human rights reports and correspondence, verifying and analyzing collected information, and assessing its national impact. The role involves contributing to the design and delivery of human rights training programs for national officials, institutions, and civil society. The volunteer will examine human rights issues, including gender considerations, and collaborate with partners to integrate them into policy efforts. Additionally, the position supports the development and implementation of communication strategies to enhance OHCHR's visibility, producing and overseeing communication materials like social media content, press releases, and infographics. Maintaining online platforms, contributing to public events, and monitoring media trends to inform strategic messaging are also key duties.
Work Experience
Up to three years of experience is required. This includes in-depth knowledge of international human rights law and mechanisms. Strong analytical skills for monitoring human rights trends and public discourse are essential. Proven ability to produce clear, accurate, and impactful communication materials, including social media content, press releases, and digital narratives, is also necessary to enhance human rights work visibility.
