Job Purpose

The UNDP Country Office in the Republic of Congo is preparing for the Gender Equality Seal process, a mechanism to promote excellence in gender equality and women's empowerment. To facilitate national team and partner adoption, a French version of the Comprehensive Benchmarking Matrix for Gold Appraisal Missions 2025-2027 is needed. This online volunteer assignment supports the professional translation of this strategic and technical document from English to French, ensuring accuracy, terminological consistency, and adherence to UN institutional style. The translated document will enhance institutional capacity and facilitate its appropriation by various stakeholders, contributing to inclusive governance and gender equality.

Responsibilities

Translate the 41-page "Comprehensive Benchmarking Matrix for Gold Appraisal Missions 2025-2027" from English to French. Ensure the translation is concise, adheres to communication guidelines, and is adapted to the target audience. The volunteer will receive the original document, terminology guidance, relevant institutional references, and information on the target audience and document usage to ensure a faithful and appropriate translation. This task directly contributes to strengthening UNDP's institutional capacity in the Republic of Congo regarding the Gender Equality Seal process.

Work Experience

Candidates must be native French speakers with fluent English proficiency. Familiarity with technical terms related to gender equality is advantageous. Prior experience translating technical or institutional documents, knowledge of UNDP or the UN system, and familiarity with gender equality concepts are considered assets. A short translation test may be required.

Skills

Native French proficiency, excellent command of English, strong translation and writing abilities, good knowledge of UN institutional vocabulary, international development, or gender equality terminology. Familiarity with gender equality and women's empowerment concepts is a plus.
