Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in 170 countries, focusing on poverty eradication and environmental protection. In Kenya, UNDP's primary objective is to eliminate poverty within the framework of sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals. A significant focus is placed on Democratic Governance, supporting Kenya's Vision 2030 Political Pillar, which aims to transform political governance through rule of law, electoral processes, public service delivery, transparency, accountability, and security.
Job Purpose
This role supports the Inclusive Africa Conference 2026, a hybrid event organized by UNDP Kenya and inABLE in Nairobi. The conference theme is “Accelerating Digital Accessibility and AI Solutions for Africa’s Future.” It aims to convene 300 in-person and over 1,400 virtual participants, with regional watch parties across 20 African countries. The conference will highlight accessibility as a key driver for digital transformation and sustainable growth, exploring how AI and emerging technologies can scale inclusive solutions. Discussions will cover inclusive employment, economic empowerment through assistive technology, and digital financial services. A major outcome will be the launch of the Kenya Disability Inclusion Partnership (KDIP).
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will amplify the Inclusive Africa Conference 2026 through social media engagement and content creation. Key responsibilities include sharing and reposting at least 10 campaign posts, following UNDP Kenya and inABLE on social media, and sharing campaign materials daily. Volunteers will produce one original social media post weekly, using provided information and guiding content tailoring to align with the campaign's digital communication policy. They will also submit weekly engagement metrics, participate in virtual orientation and feedback sessions, and collaborate effectively with the online team and organizers to ensure coherent messaging and generate regular weekly content.
Work Experience
Volunteers are required to have an active presence on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or X (Twitter). Desirable experience includes creativity and content development skills, the ability to plan campaigns and analyze social media effectiveness, strong networks within Africa, and a passion for disability inclusion, digital accessibility, and AI advocacy.
Skills
Essential skills include active social media engagement and content creation. Volunteers should possess creativity, campaign planning abilities, and analytical skills for social media effectiveness. Strong communication skills, particularly in human rights and social media activism, are advantageous. Teamwork and the ability to collaborate effectively to ensure coherent messaging are crucial. A passion for disability inclusion, digital accessibility, and AI is highly desirable.
