This role provides targeted support to UNIN's communications and outreach efforts during a transition period, enhancing the visibility and effectiveness of UN-wide innovation initiatives.

Job Purpose

This short-term volunteer engagement aims to provide continuity and targeted support to the UN Innovation Network's (UNIN) communications and outreach activities. The role will contribute directly to increasing the visibility and effectiveness of UN-wide innovation initiatives by developing essential communication materials. The volunteer will support UNIN's mission to connect practitioners, surface emerging practices, and foster collaboration across the UN system. This position is crucial for translating innovation work into shared learning and sustaining engagement during a period of transition, ensuring that UNIN's efforts continue to be impactful and widely recognized.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will provide hands-on graphic design support for the UN Innovation Network (UNIN). Key responsibilities include developing a concise visual guide (approximately 10 slides) for the Comms Pack, outlining best practices and guidelines for consistent communications and branding. This involves translating complex or technical information into clear, accessible messaging. The volunteer will also support broader communications and outreach efforts, contributing to the visibility and effectiveness of UN-wide innovation initiatives. This role requires managing short timelines and adapting to evolving priorities within a UN context.

Work Experience

Required experience includes strong written and visual communication skills, with demonstrated experience in communications strategy, content development, or graphic design. Experience supporting communications for innovation, policy, research, or professional networks is considered an asset. Familiarity with UN, multilateral, or public-sector contexts is desirable. Proficiency with Canva and WebFlow is critical.
