Job Purpose
This role supports the Kurima initiative in Angola, which aims to transform rural economies by promoting youth employment and strengthening rural livelihoods along the Lobito Corridor. The UN Volunteer will contribute to program implementation, stakeholder coordination, and capacity-building efforts, focusing on sustainable agriculture, agribusiness development, and enterprise support for youth and women. The assignment offers hands-on experience in inclusive economic development and rural transformation, while also fostering Angola-Japan cooperation through knowledge exchange and technology transfer, including the adaptation of Japanese approaches like KAIZEN and digital agriculture.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will support the implementation and coordination of activities focused on youth livelihoods, agribusiness development, and cooperative strengthening. This includes assisting in coordinating project activities across government, private sector, and community groups, and contributing to training and mentorship programs. The role involves supporting capacity-building for local institutions and cooperatives in sustainable agriculture and agribusiness, and promoting the application of KAIZEN principles. Additionally, the volunteer will support youth and women-led enterprises through business development and market linkage activities, assist in organizing enterprise support processes, and contribute to strengthening market access. Responsibilities also include preparing reports and knowledge products, documenting lessons learned, and supporting monitoring and evaluation. The volunteer will engage with government, private sector, and international partners, particularly Japanese stakeholders, to facilitate collaboration and organize stakeholder events.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required in areas such as economic governance, sustainable livelihoods, rural development, youth employment, enterprise development, capacity-building, institutional strengthening, or project coordination within development programs.
Skills
Key competencies include strong project management, coordination, and organizational skills, with solid analytical and report writing abilities. The role requires the capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, practical knowledge of livelihoods, agriculture, or MSME development, and a basic understanding of gender equality and youth inclusion.
