Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Côte d’Ivoire operates within the framework of the 2021-2025 Country Programme Document (CPD), aligned with national development priorities and the UN's Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. UNDP aims to foster trust in institutions, promote peace and resilience, and drive inclusive growth. The country office supports the government in addressing strategic development challenges across three pillars: governance, inclusive growth, and sustainable natural resource management. The overall country programme budget for 2021-2025 is estimated at US$72.9 million.
Job Purpose
The UNDP Country Office in Côte d’Ivoire seeks a skilled and dedicated National UN Volunteer for Partnerships and Resource Mobilization to strengthen its team. This role is crucial for accelerating partnership and communication efforts with diverse development actors, including institutions, civil society, and the private sector. The objective is to ensure the integrated implementation of development programs and interventions outlined in the CPD, maximizing impact and addressing national needs. Furthermore, the volunteer will enhance communication activities to increase the visibility of interventions supported by UNDP and its partners, contributing to the overall success of the country's development agenda and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
The National UN Volunteer will coordinate the monitoring of partnerships and funding opportunities at the Country Office level to ensure a consolidated view of UNDP's engagements. This includes analyzing the partner landscape nationally, regionally, and internationally to identify opportunities that strengthen program implementation. The volunteer will develop and maintain a database of current and potential partners and conduct continuous strategic monitoring of partner priorities and funding instruments. Key tasks involve developing concept notes, proposals, and project documents to mobilize resources for the country program, and cultivating strategic relationships with donors and financial partners. The role also entails supporting strategic meetings, maintaining records of exchanges, and identifying/coordinating funding opportunities through systematic monitoring of relevant calls for proposals and grant opportunities. Additionally, the volunteer will contribute to the country office's communication strategy by highlighting partnerships and joint results, preparing institutional communication materials, producing success stories, and supporting digital platforms and social media.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of professional experience is required. This includes at least three years in development cooperation, sustainable development, or international cooperation in Africa, preferably in Côte d’Ivoire. Experience in partnership development, resource mobilization, and/or supporting project proposal development for partners is essential. Familiarity with Côte d’Ivoire's institutional and private sector environment, particularly public-private partnership mechanisms, is beneficial. Knowledge of UNDP or UN System policies and practices is an asset. Proficiency in computer applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with internet usage, is necessary.
Skills
Key competencies include integrity, professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning. Strong planning and organizational skills are essential, enabling effective management of workload, prioritization, and timely delivery under pressure. The role requires excellent teamwork and respect for diversity, with the ability to work effectively across units and maintain harmonious relationships in a multicultural environment. Superior communication skills, both oral and written, are vital for report writing, presentations, and interpersonal interactions. Adaptability, flexibility, and the willingness to work in challenging environments are also important. Adherence to the principles of volunteerism and UN core values is expected. Specific technical skills in communication, development programs, and business management are desirable.
