Job Purpose

The assignment aims to address critical issues of chronic malnutrition and anemia, which are worsened by climate change impacts. The Community Facilitation and Counseling Manager will play a key role in implementing health and nutrition brigades, conducting nutritional screenings, providing immediate treatment, and strengthening local health capacities to protect and improve the nutritional status of the most vulnerable populations in affected areas.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the WFP Guatemala Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Programme Associate, the Community Facilitation and Counseling Manager will be responsible for facilitating community activities. This includes participating in training on activity objectives, key messages (healthy eating, hygiene, family co-responsibility), and playful methodologies. The role involves registering participants, assisting with activity setup and flow, and ensuring a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment. Key duties include facilitating community fair stations, clearly conveying messages on healthy eating, hygiene practices, and family co-responsibility in nutrition and health, and addressing basic family queries or escalating them to technical staff. The position also requires participation in feedback sessions and preparing reports on activities conducted, participant numbers, and outcomes.
Work Experience
No prior experience is required, but one month of relevant experience is desirable. Mandatory experience includes working in community or rural settings. Desirable experience includes providing nutrition training, preferably as a community nutrition counselor, within WFP or similar organizations. Basic reading and writing skills are necessary.
