Job Purpose

This role supports WFP's efforts to break the cycle of hunger and poverty, with a focus on gender equality, women's empowerment, and the inclusion of vulnerable populations. The assignment aims to contribute to reducing morbidity and mortality in climate crisis contexts by supporting the health system in protecting and recovering the nutritional status of vulnerable populations, particularly in areas affected by recurrent climate-related emergencies.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Programme Associate, the Community Facilitation and Counseling Officer will participate in training on activity objectives, key messages (healthy eating, hygiene, family co-responsibility), and playful methodologies. Responsibilities include registering participants, assisting with activity setup and flow, ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment, and facilitating community fair stations or challenges. The role involves clearly explaining activities and transmitting key messages on healthy eating habits, hygiene practices, and family co-responsibility in nutrition and health. The officer will address basic family queries or refer them to technical staff, participate in feedback sessions, and prepare reports detailing activities, participant numbers, and outcomes.

Work Experience

No prior experience is required, but one month of work experience in community or rural settings is relevant. Desirable experience includes nutrition training, preferably as a community nutrition counselor within WFP or similar organizations. Basic reading and writing skills are necessary. Candidates must reside in the municipality of Camotán, Chiquimula, to be considered.
