Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Gabon, established in 2019, supports the UN Resident Coordinator and Country Team in coordinating responses to national development challenges and accelerating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It collaborates with UN agencies, funds, and programs, as well as government and civil society, to enhance the visibility and impact of UN interventions in Gabon through regular communication and engagement.
Job Purpose
This role supports the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Gabon by designing visual and audiovisual communication materials to enhance the visibility of UN actions, results, and joint programs. The produced content will be utilized across digital platforms, social media, institutional publications, and events, contributing to increased awareness of UN activities, promotion of sustainable development priorities, and public engagement on SDG-related issues. The assignment aims to strengthen the UN's communication outreach and impact in Gabon.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Communication and Advocacy Officer and the overall supervision of the Resident Coordinator, the Online Volunteers will be responsible for:
- Designing graphic communication materials.
- Processing and editing images.
- Producing and editing short videos.
- Supporting the creation of visual content for social media, publications, and institutional events.
All design and layout work must adhere to the UN branding guidelines, which will be provided to the volunteers. This role is crucial in visually representing the UN's work and achievements in Gabon.
Work Experience
Proven experience in audiovisual communication, photography, graphic design, or related fields is required. Proficiency in graphic design, image editing, and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent) is essential. Familiarity with UN development themes and terminology is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in graphic design, image editing, and video editing software (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent). Experience in audiovisual communication, photography, and graphic design. Knowledge of UN development themes and terminology is a plus. Fluency in French is required, with working knowledge of English being desirable.
