Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation of the "Safe Cities and Public Spaces for Women and Girls" initiative in the San Miguel district of Peru. The assignment focuses on strengthening the capacities of public officials, community actors, and civil society organizations in preventing sexual harassment and other forms of violence against women in public and digital spaces. The position involves technical coordination with local authorities and strategic partners, contributing to the design and implementation of gender-responsive tools and protocols. It also supports data generation, analysis, and reporting to inform policy and service improvements, fostering community participation and local ownership of interventions.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance for the "Safe Cities and Public Spaces for Women and Girls" program in San Miguel, enhancing the capabilities of public servants, community members, and civil society organizations in preventing sexual harassment and violence against women in public and digital spheres. Support technical coordination with the District Municipality of San Miguel, the District Security Committee (CODISEC), and other strategic actors to ensure inter-institutional articulation and activity follow-up. Contribute to the design, validation, and implementation of technical tools, protocols, and guides for institutional responses with a gender, intersectionality, and human rights approach. Assist in generating, systematizing, and analyzing project information, including diagnostics, gap identification, lessons learned, and technical reports with policy recommendations. Facilitate participatory processes with community-based organizations, women's networks, and territorial actors to promote their involvement in prevention, advocacy, and local appropriation of interventions. Develop communication content for various audiences and platforms, including informational notes, brief dissemination pieces, key messages, and narrative inputs to highlight progress and learnings. Support the updating and dynamization of communication channels, including social media and digital platforms, ensuring institutional coherence and local relevance. Assist in preparing and reviewing inputs for presentations, public events, awareness campaigns, and visibility activities. Support the development of Terms of Reference (ToR) for project-related procurement processes and provide technical follow-up on consultancies and services, ensuring quality and relevance of deliverables. Aid in project monitoring and evaluation, including preparing periodic reports, maintaining databases, systematizing results, and identifying implementation alerts. Provide technical support to other UN Women Peru initiatives related to gender equality, violence prevention, and institutional strengthening as needed. Perform other tasks within the functional profile to meet project objectives and office operations, including travel.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in gender-focused management, public policy, and/or gender-based violence. Experience working with vulnerable populations, including diverse women, girls, adolescents, rural communities, and historically excluded groups is required. Desirable experience includes inter-institutional coordination with government, organizations, and other relevant actors, as well as prior experience within the UN System.
