Supporting Secondary Data Review for Evidence-Based Decision-Making
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's global development network, assisting countries in building better lives by connecting them with knowledge, experience, and resources. In Ukraine, UNDP focuses on democratic governance, prosperity, poverty reduction, local development, human security, energy, and environment. The Data Team within the Policy and Programme Coherence Unit supports decision-making through data insights and analytics.
Job Purpose
This role supports the UNDP Ukraine Data Team by conducting Secondary Data Reviews (SDRs) to inform program management activities. Online Volunteers will review analytical products, tag them according to a provided framework, and ensure data accuracy and consistency. The purpose is to create a clear analytical overview on specific topics by synthesizing multiple sources of secondary data. This contribution will aid in developing internal knowledge products, such as digests and profiles, enhancing evidence-based decision-making within UNDP Ukraine.
Responsibilities
Online Volunteers will dedicate 3-4 hours daily to Secondary Data Review for UNDP Ukraine's program management. Key duties include searching for relevant data and reports using defined indicators, recording sources with complete metadata in a shared tracker, and reviewing/tagging materials based on an Analytical Framework. Volunteers will verify data accuracy and consistency, flagging any outdated or conflicting information. They will also translate essential findings from Ukrainian to English, edit and format review outputs for clarity, and contribute content to internal knowledge products like Biweekly Digests and Community Profiles. Onboarding training, weekly e-meetings, and regular feedback will be provided.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of experience in an analytical function, including performing reviews and drafting reports or briefs, is required. Desirable experience includes knowledge of the international development context and a deep understanding of the Ukrainian context, including its political landscape and recovery processes. Solid computer literacy is also necessary.
Skills
Required skills include strong analytical and writing abilities, with the capacity to present data concisely. Proficiency in both Ukrainian (native) and English (fluent) is essential. Desirable skills include knowledge of the international development context and a deep understanding of Ukraine's political and recovery processes. Solid computer literacy is also required.
