Job Purpose
This assignment contributes to strengthening UN Women's strategic information analysis capacity by facilitating the timely identification of trends, narratives, and emerging issues in the public agenda related to gender equality and women's rights. The daily information synthesis is a key input for decision-making, institutional communication, and evidence-based advocacy. By supporting this process, the organization's responsiveness in a dynamic media environment is enhanced, contributing to the promotion of sustainable human development with a gender perspective.
Responsibilities
Support the daily preparation of an information synthesis on priority topics such as gender equality, women's rights, and the public and media agenda, based on monitoring national and digital media. This includes identifying and selecting relevant information from media and official sources, drafting clear and concise summaries according to editorial guidelines, and supporting the organization and systematization of content for internal products. Additionally, perform specific editorial assistance tasks, such as information retrieval, basic data verification, and compilation support. The expected outcome is the daily delivery of a structured, clear, and error-free information synthesis within established deadlines, along with timely support for editorial tasks contributing to institutional content production.
Work Experience
While no specific years of experience are mandated, a background or interest in communication, journalism, international relations, or social sciences is required. Desirable experience includes previous work in media monitoring or preparing information syntheses, and familiarity with the gender equality agenda and the UN system.
Skills
Excellent writing, synthesis, and analytical skills are essential. The ability to identify relevant information and distinguish reliable sources is crucial. Attention to detail, rigor in handling information, and the capacity to work under tight deadlines are necessary. Basic digital tool proficiency (word processors, advanced internet search) is required. Desirable skills include knowledge of the gender equality agenda and the UN system.
