Job Purpose
The United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO) seeks an Oversight and Coordination Support Officer to provide critical analytical, coordination, and follow-up support. This role is essential for enabling UNDCO leadership to effectively execute its oversight and governance responsibilities within the SIARP 2.0 framework. The position focuses exclusively on governance facilitation, coordination support, and accountability strengthening, ensuring alignment with UN system priorities and donor commitments. The officer will contribute to the integrity and effectiveness of governance mechanisms, without engaging in programme implementation or operational management.
Responsibilities
The Programme Oversight Support Officer will support UNDCO's oversight and governance functions by reviewing programme documentation for alignment with frameworks, facilitating structured reviews of progress and financial reports, and tracking adherence to governance arrangements. This includes preparing analytical summaries and briefing notes for leadership. The role involves strengthening accountability and information management by tracking decisions and commitments from governance meetings, maintaining organized documentation for transparency and institutional memory, and supporting information flow between the Programme Coordination Unit and UNDCO leadership. Additionally, the officer will facilitate coordination and institutional alignment by preparing background materials for engagements with UN organizations, the African Union Commission, and donors, and clarifying roles and reporting lines. The position also entails monitoring risk and compliance from a governance perspective, tracking oversight-related recommendations, and supporting leadership in meeting fiduciary and accountability standards.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in programme oversight, governance, monitoring, reporting, or accountability within development, humanitarian, or international cooperation contexts. Experience in gender-based violence (GBV) and eliminating violence against women and girls is desirable. Experience with donor coordination and knowledge management is an asset. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in multicultural teams. Experience within the UN system is desirable.
