Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will support UNICEF's Youth and Adolescent Development initiatives in Qatar, concentrating on youth empowerment, participation, skills development, entrepreneurship, and transition-to-earning pathways. This role involves contributing to partnership engagement, programme support, research, drafting documents, and coordinating with government and other stakeholders on youth priorities. The assignment also aims to foster knowledge generation, implement practical youth-focused projects, and develop scalable approaches to strengthen systems, partnerships, and opportunities for young people, ultimately enhancing their ability to contribute to sustainable development.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Youth and Adolescent Development Manager, the UN Volunteer will support the implementation and follow-up of youth empowerment, participation, skills development, and entrepreneurship activities within UNICEF's workplan with the Government of Qatar. Key tasks include assisting in coordination with government counterparts, youth partners, and universities; preparing concept notes, briefing notes, and presentations; and mapping youth programmes and partnership opportunities. The role also involves organizing meetings, consultations, and workshops, contributing to research and evidence gathering on youth development, and supporting the creation of knowledge products and communication materials. Additionally, the volunteer will assist with activity tracking, reporting, and ensuring youth perspectives are integrated into programme discussions and partnership processes.
Work Experience
A minimum of 1 month of relevant experience is required, with a demonstrated interest or experience in youth development, empowerment, entrepreneurship, innovation, employability, skills development, or related programme areas. Experience in programme support, research, drafting, coordination, and engagement with government or partners is desirable. Previous volunteer or international/multicultural experience is considered an advantage.
