Organizational Context
The Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Maldives supports coordinated UN system engagement at the country level. The Country Analysis (CA) is a key document informing strategic planning and UN action. This assignment focuses on creating a visually engaging layout for the CA to enhance communication of findings to stakeholders, including government and development partners. The designer will work remotely, collaborating with the RCO.
Job Purpose
This assignment aims to develop a clear, professional, and visually engaging layout for the Maldives Country Analysis (CA) report. The purpose is to improve the readability, accessibility, and effective communication of key findings to a diverse audience, including government counterparts, development partners, and the UN system. The designer will contribute by translating analytical content into a compelling visual format, ensuring alignment with UN branding standards and messaging priorities. All content will be provided, with the focus solely on layout, structure, and presentation.
Responsibilities
The Online Volunteer will produce a complete layout design for the Country Analysis report, including cover, section templates, and key visual elements. This involves reviewing previous RCO products to understand established visual standards and ensuring adherence to UN corporate branding guidelines. The volunteer will create an initial draft layout, discuss it with the focal point, and revise it based on feedback. The design should follow UN branding guidelines and may incorporate SDG colors. All necessary materials and guidelines will be provided. The role requires collaboration with the Data and Results Reporting Officer and Strategic Planner.
Work Experience
Proven experience in graphic design and document layout, particularly for reports or publications. Experience applying corporate branding guidelines consistently is required. Previous experience with UN, development, policy, or analytical reports is considered an asset.
Skills
Strong skills in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or equivalent. Ability to translate complex information into clear and visually appealing layouts. Attention to detail, openness to feedback, and good communication skills are essential. Familiarity with UN branding guidelines is beneficial.
