Job Purpose
The assignment aims to coordinate an Integrated Health and Nutrition Brigade and Social and Behavior Change (CSC) activities in Guatemala City. The coordinator will provide technical and administrative support, ensuring the smooth implementation of field activities by the brigades and CSC team. This includes managing operational requirements, ensuring team safety, and safeguarding the dignity and well-being of beneficiaries. The role involves developing periodic reports, identifying areas for improvement, and facilitating information sharing with local and departmental food security commissions. The coordinator will also identify capacity-building needs for brigade staff and ensure the quality and consistency of data collected, contributing to the reduction of morbidity and mortality in vulnerable communities.
Responsibilities
The Coordinator will provide technical and administrative support to Integrated Nutrition Brigades and Social and Behavior Change (CSC) activities, managing operational needs for effective implementation. Key responsibilities include ensuring team safety and security clearances, safeguarding the dignity and well-being of beneficiaries, and developing periodic implementation reports with results and recommendations. The role involves timely reporting of findings and areas for improvement to WFP, and supporting information dissemination to Municipal and Departmental Food Security Commissions. The coordinator will identify capacity-building needs for brigade staff and coordinate training or technical assistance to enhance implementation quality. They will verify that all reports include analysis of population needs and experiences, ensuring well-being and social protection access. A crucial task is reviewing reports from each brigade and CSC team to generate a consolidated document for WFP management. Specific actions for Nutrition Brigades include coordinating planning, execution, and monitoring with the Ministry of Health, ensuring brigades have necessary supplies, supervising field activities and goal achievement, reviewing data for quality, and ensuring timely referral of acute malnutrition cases. For CSC activities, the coordinator will oversee planning, execution, and monitoring in designated departments and ensure compliance with nutritional fair guidelines.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 7 years of general experience, including at least 2 years in emergency nutrition and/or food and nutrition security. Experience in nutritional assessment of children under five, community-level nutrition education, and knowledge of Ministry of Health care standards and SIGSA are essential. Desirable experience includes prior coordination of nutritional brigades, managing acute malnutrition cases, working in rural communities, organizing large events, and experience with UN or international development organizations.
