Data Analytics & Impact Mapping for UNDP Regional Programme

Organizational Context

The Regional Bureau for Arab States (RBAS) of UNDP supports the Arab States region in achieving sustainable development goals, focusing on poverty eradication, structural transformations, and resilience building. Operating from its regional hub in Amman, Jordan, RBAS implements regional initiatives aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the UNDP Strategic Plan. The Amman hub supports diverse areas including governance, poverty reduction, knowledge economy, peacebuilding, climate security, youth engagement, gender equality, and resilience.

Job Purpose

This role seeks a data-savvy Online Volunteer to analyze project and results data for the UNDP Regional Programme in the Arab States. The volunteer will map projects to high-level results frameworks and create insightful dashboards to visualize portfolio-level data. The purpose is to support decision-making, learning, and accountability at a regional level by making project impact and alignment visible. This hands-on opportunity allows for the application of data science and analytics skills to development work, contributing to the effective implementation and monitoring of regional development initiatives.

Responsibilities

Analyze project and results data across the RBAS regional portfolio, mapping projects to RBAS Regional Programme Outcomes & Outputs and UNDP Strategic Plan Outcomes & Outputs. Clean, organize, and structure datasets for analysis. Build a dynamic Excel dashboard using pivot tables, charts, and filters to visualize portfolio-level insights, including outcome/output coverage, trends, overlaps, and gaps. Ensure data accuracy and consistency, iterating based on feedback. Create clear guidance on how to use and update the dashboard. Key deliverables include a cleaned project mapping dataset, an interactive Excel dashboard, a user guide, and a final clean data file.

Work Experience

While specific years of experience are not detailed, a strong background in data analysis and proficiency in Excel are essential. Experience with RBM, M&E, or portfolio analysis is considered a plus. The ability to work independently and meet deadlines is also important.
