Job Purpose
The UN Volunteer will provide comprehensive human resources support to FAO Kenya's diverse portfolio of over 50 projects. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective implementation of the Country Programming Framework (CPF) and achieving food security goals. The incumbent will offer quality HR advice, coordinate recruitment processes, and manage personnel actions to ensure adequate staffing across various units. This position contributes directly to the operational efficiency and success of FAO's mission in Kenya by maintaining compliance with HR policies and facilitating smooth administrative procedures.
Responsibilities
The UN Volunteer will provide and coordinate comprehensive HR support and policy services, ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures. Key duties include managing personnel actions such as appointments and transfers, processing entitlements, and maintaining confidential records. The role involves briefing staff on HR policies, benefits, and administrative law, as well as handling complex HR cases through research and analysis. Additionally, the volunteer will coordinate recruitment processes, assist managers with job profiles and post management, and prepare HR-related briefs and reports. Responsibilities also extend to drafting HR policy papers, supporting staff development programs, and performing other required duties. UN Volunteers are also expected to promote volunteerism and contribute to UNV's mission.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required. This includes experience in HR policies and procedures, personnel administration, recruitment coordination, and handling complex HR cases. Experience in providing advice on entitlements, social security, and administrative law, maintaining confidential records, conducting research and data analysis, and supporting job profiling and post management is also essential.
Skills
Essential skills include strong communication, organizational, analytical, and client-service abilities, coupled with a high level of integrity and discretion. Proficiency in HR policies and procedures, personnel administration, and recruitment coordination is necessary. The role requires the ability to handle complex cases, conduct research, and draft HR correspondence.
