Organizational Context

Global Welfare Association (GLOWA) is a women-led NGO in Cameroon's Northwest region dedicated to combating human trafficking. They focus on community education, victim support, and advocacy to foster respect for human rights, especially for children and women. GLOWA implements programs in mental health, gender justice, youth and women's empowerment, and legal advocacy, aiming to protect vulnerable populations from systematic abuses.

Job Purpose

This assignment aims to enhance GLOWA's online presence and impact by ensuring its website content is accurate, well-structured, and optimized for search engines. The goal is to improve online visibility, attract more supporters, and effectively communicate the organization's programs and achievements. The volunteer's contribution is crucial for the redesigned website to compellingly tell GLOWA's story and reach a broader audience, thereby supporting its mission of fighting human trafficking and promoting human rights.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will edit and optimize website content for clarity, professionalism, and search engine visibility, working under the guidance of the Volunteer Team Lead. Key tasks include refining existing content for style and tone, optimizing for search engines using keywords and meta descriptions, and ensuring alignment with GLOWA's mission and branding. The volunteer will collaborate with the UI/UX designer and WordPress setup volunteer. Responsibilities also involve suggesting improvements for readability and engagement, delivering polished and SEO-optimized content, and providing recommendations for future content enhancements.

Work Experience

Experience in content editing, writing, or digital communications is required. Familiarity with SEO principles and best practices is essential. Prior experience with nonprofit organizations or women-led initiatives is considered an advantage. Strong attention to detail and fluency in English are also necessary.
