Organizational Context

Global Welfare Association (GLOWA) is a women-led NGO in Cameroon dedicated to combating human trafficking and its societal impact. Operating in the Northwest region, GLOWA focuses on community education, victim support, and advocacy to foster respect for human rights, especially for children and women. The organization implements programs in mental health, gender justice, youth and women's empowerment, and legal advocacy. A functional WordPress website is crucial for enhancing their digital presence and outreach.

Job Purpose

This assignment aims to establish a technically sound, secure, and functional WordPress website for the Global Welfare Association (GLOWA). The volunteer will be responsible for the initial setup and configuration of the WordPress platform, ensuring it is optimized for hosting redesigned content, visual branding, and interactive features. The successful setup will directly contribute to enhancing GLOWA's digital visibility and outreach capabilities, supporting their mission to combat human trafficking and promote human rights in Cameroon. This role is vital for preparing the website for seamless content integration and effective communication.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will install or reconfigure WordPress on the hosting platform, and install/configure essential themes and plugins. Key duties include setting up robust security measures and backup systems to protect the website. The volunteer will implement approved UI/UX design mockups under the guidance of the designer and collaborate closely with the Volunteer Team Lead and other team members to ensure structural alignment. Deliverables include a fully functional WordPress installation, configured themes and plugins, basic technical documentation for GLOWA staff, and a testing report verifying design and functionality.

Work Experience

Required experience includes proficiency in WordPress installation, configuration, and maintenance. Familiarity with website security best practices and backup solutions is essential. Experience with integrating themes and plugins is necessary. Prior experience working with non-profit organizations or women-led organizations is considered an advantage.

Skills

Essential skills include WordPress website setup and configuration, basic website security management, and plugin management. The volunteer must possess strong collaboration skills, particularly with designers and project coordinators. Fluency in English is required. The ability to implement UI/UX design mockups and provide basic technical documentation is also important.
