Content Editing & SEO Optimization for Women-Led NGO

Organizational Context

Global Welfare Association (GLOWA) is a women-led grassroots NGO in Cameroon's Northwest region, dedicated to combating human trafficking. They focus on community education, victim support, and advocacy to foster respect for human rights, especially for children and women. GLOWA implements programs in mental health, gender justice, youth and women's empowerment, and legal advocacy, aiming to protect the most vulnerable from systematic abuses.

Job Purpose

This assignment aims to enhance GLOWA's online presence and impact by ensuring its website content is accurate, well-structured, and optimized for search engines. The goal is to improve online visibility, attract more supporters, and effectively communicate the organization's programs and achievements. The volunteer will contribute to a redesigned website that compellingly tells GLOWA's story and reaches a broader audience, thereby supporting its mission to fight human trafficking and promote human rights in Cameroon.

Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will edit and optimize website content for clarity, professionalism, and search engine visibility, working under the guidance of the Volunteer Team Lead and in collaboration with the UI/UX designer and WordPress setup volunteer. Key tasks include editing existing content for style and tone, optimizing content with keywords, meta descriptions, and headings for SEO, and ensuring all content aligns with GLOWA's mission and branding. The volunteer will also suggest improvements for readability and engagement. Deliverables include polished website content, SEO-optimized page elements, and recommendations for future content enhancements.

Work Experience

Experience in content editing, writing, or digital communications is required. Familiarity with SEO principles and best practices is essential. Prior experience with nonprofit organizations or women-led initiatives is considered an advantage. Strong attention to detail and fluency in English are also necessary.
